All sessions offered by Northfield Education are structured around proven, evidence based, pedagogical principles.

Retrieval: First prior learning is activated through a fun warm up activity related to previous set work.

Metalearning: Learners then review the homework they have been set, reflecting carefully on their strengths or weaknesses and developing an action plan to keep improving.

Dialogic interaction: Structured discussion which supports learners in the construction of their own understanding of the concepts they are learning.

Scaffolded practice: Focused individual work, supported by the tutor, that gradually transitions from more supported to less supported tasks as the learner gains in confidence and competence.

Tuition is currently offered in two forms, small groups, individual face to face sessions or individual online sessions.

Northfield Education offers expert tuition for Key Stage 2 children, with a focus on preparation for the 11+ exam and catching up in core subjects. We provide:

  • One-to-one tuition, either in person or online:

Tailored one-to-one tuition delivered online, designed to meet your child’s individual needs.

Remote learning offers unique ways to communicate, connect and challenge learners—different from in-person sessions, but just as engaging and effective.

Your child will need:

  • A stable internet connection

  • A laptop or tablet with a keyboard and mouse

  • The ability to navigate websites independently (or adult support to help them do so)

Parents don’t need to be present throughout, but may occasionally be needed to help with access or troubleshooting.
